What is Truffle Aioli

Truffle aioli is a simple, flavorful sauce made from mayonnaise, garlic, lemon juice, and truffle oil. I often add a bit of plain Greek yogurt to thicken the sauce and boost protein while keeping it light.

This versatile aioli works as a dip for fries and vegetables, a spread for sandwiches and burgers, or a bright finishing sauce for roasted vegetables and seafood.

Are Truffles Mushrooms?

Truffles are fungi, like mushrooms, but they grow underground and have a very distinct aroma and flavor profile. They’re not the same as common above-ground mushrooms, but they belong to the same biological kingdom.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon mayo
  • ¼ cup plain, non-fat Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons white truffle oil
  • water Optional – to thin the sauce if needed

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix until smooth.
  • If the aioli is too thick, add a teaspoon of water at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator after serving. Use within several days.
