Napkin rings transform a simple table into an inviting, styled setting. While classic silver rings have their place, a warmer, handcrafted option suits autumn gatherings better. These acorn-themed napkin rings pair perfectly with homemade cloth napkins and add rustic charm to a Thanksgiving or fall table.

The materials for this project are simple and affordable. Most items can be found at craft stores; acorn caps can be gathered outdoors or purchased if needed. If you have access to a yard with oak trees, collect caps, rinse them, and let them dry before using.

DIY Napkin Rings Tutorial
Supplies:
- Acorn caps
- Wool roving in chosen colors (from the yarn section)
- Green and brown craft felt (higher-quality felt with some wool content gives better texture)
- Mustard-colored thread
- Brown ribbon
- Wire floral stems (floral section)
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Instructions:
Step 1: Form small felted wool balls from the wool roving. These are quick to make with basic felting techniques; you will need three felted balls per napkin ring.

Step 2: Secure each felted ball inside a clean acorn cap with a dot of hot glue.

Step 3: Cut three green leaves and two brown oak-leaf shapes from the felt for every napkin ring. Add decorative stitching with mustard-colored thread by hand or machine. Stitching is optional but elevates the look, giving the leaves more definition and a finished appearance.

Step 4: Create the ring base by wrapping a floral wire stem around three or four fingers. Twist the ends to secure the circle shape. Adjust the diameter so it comfortably fits around a rolled napkin.

Step 5: Cut two small brown felt circles about 1–2 inches in diameter. These will form the base to attach the decorative pieces to the wire ring.

Step 6: Gather all components and heat your glue gun. Glue one brown felt circle to the top side of the wire ring and the other to the underside as needed to create a stable foundation. Tie a small bow or loops from the brown ribbon. Add a small drop of glue near the top edge of each green leaf and pinch slightly to create dimensional shape.

Step 7: Arrange and glue the three green leaves around the brown felt circle, spacing them evenly. Add one brown oak leaf between two green leaves and secure it in place. Layer the ribbon over the felt base, then glue the acorn caps with felted balls on top of the ribbon. Finish by attaching the final brown oak leaf to balance the arrangement and add depth. Allow glue to set completely.

These napkin rings are quick to replicate, and you can customize colors and felt shapes to suit your table decor. Make a set for friends or keep them as an easy seasonal detail that complements homemade napkins and warm fall tableware.
