Office Renovation Progress: Timeline, Photos & What’s Next

So, you might be wondering what happened with my new office. I moved my home office into a spare bedroom and you helped me choose a paint color — I showed the initial results a while back.

That update was in mid‑May — so how does it look now?

Pretty much the same… until this week!

Good news: The Bug Man cleared out the old exercise equipment and I finally started painting my large desk.

After debating black versus white, I chose all white.

Here’s my desk before (yes, it was far too cluttered):

And after… well, it’s not fully assembled yet — I only painted it yesterday — but already the white looks great with the wall color.

The project was a bit more work than I expected. I had to prime the desk, apply two coats of white paint, and finish the countertop area with polyurethane.

I’m excited to get everything put together. I’ve been finding small pieces here and there that will complement the space — several will need paint too. If you look closely at the photo you can spot a few of those finds: a locker basket I adore, some white shutters I’m undecided about, and an inexpensive mirror I picked up. I’m torn between painting that mirror white or black; I’m even starting to appreciate the gold finish when it’s paired with the wall color and the white desk. I want a mix of black and white pieces but I’m struggling to decide which items should be black and which should stay white. Any suggestions?

Eventually I’ll have the room finished. I’ll keep you posted and share the small projects I have planned.

In the meantime, here’s how my old office currently looks — and yes, it’s stressing me out!

Now I’m off to look for inspiration photos and to ice the cookies we baked yesterday — hopefully they turn out cute so I can share pictures tomorrow!
